Ginger
Harvesting and Ripening
- Harvest Season: Ginger is harvested primarily between April and October, though it can be available year-round due to Ecuador’s favorable growing conditions.
Packaging Option
- Whole Fresh Ginger:
Packaging Type:
- Cardboard boxes for export, containing whole, undamaged ginger roots.
- Each box contains uniform-sized ginger roots. Net Weight per Box: Typically between 10 and 15 kg per box.
- Additional Packaging: Protective materials such as paper or mesh nets inside boxes to prevent damage during transport.
Storage and Transportation Conditions
- Storage Temperature: Keep fresh ginger at temperatures between 10°C and 15°C. If transporting whole roots, it should be refrigerated.
- Transportation: Use refrigerated containers (cold chain management) during international transport to ensure the ginger arrives in optimal condition and retains its freshness.
- Shelf Life: Fresh ginger can last 2 to 3 weeks if kept refrigerated, while dried or powdered ginger has a much longer shelf life depending on storage conditions.
